Following the setback suffered by JAMB to conduct 2017 UTME that finally started yesterday 13th May 2017, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, revealed that the conduct of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, across 624 Computer Based Test, CBT, centres in Nigeria was successful.

The Statistics of registered candidates for 2017 UTME showed that about 1.7 million candidates, including 321 blind candidates are expected to sit for the exam this year which is already overwhelming. However, there have been reported cases of examination malpractice among candidates over the years, most of which parents, sponsors and JAMB staff collaborate to perpetrate such heinous crime.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB Recorded 357 prison inmates as Candidate for 2017 UMTE out of the 1.7 million candidates that will sit for exam staring from Saturday 13th April 2017.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede disclosed this at a news conference on Friday in Abuja. The professor said that the UTME examination scheduled for May 13 have not been postponed.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB has advised UTME Candidates 2017 to check their e-mails for notification of their examination centres. JAMB also disclosed their readiness to conduct the exams and stated that preparations for the smooth conduct of the examination had been concluded with all necessary logistics in place.

Following the  reports of various challenges that vitiated the previous conduct of its examination, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said that operatives of the Nigeria Police, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission, ICPC, will monitor the examination centres in the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UMTE.
